Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Buxton, you must be at least 21 years of age, although specific vehicle categories may have different age requirements and potential extra fees for drivers under 25. You need a valid, full driving license appropriate for the vehicle type, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Please present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed through trusted payment providers for your security.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure that the fuel level is the same as when you picked up the vehicle; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us right away, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will be responsible for any parking fines or traffic violations incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help minimize your financial liability, so please review these closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without consent is unacceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Buxton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disagreements will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
Updates to Terms
Terms may be updated periodically. Any changes will take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
