Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Rental Vehicle Requirements

• To rent a vehicle from Buxton, you must be at least 21 years old, though some vehicle categories may impose different age restrictions and additional fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving license relevant to the vehicle type is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to supply valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Reservations and Payments

• You can make reservations via our website, over the phone, or by visiting our Dartford location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• Upon collecting your vehicle from Buxton, a thorough inspection is required to identify and document any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to ensure clarity. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the time of collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.

Insurance and Liability Coverage

• All rentals at Buxton include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so please review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is in place. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle

• Usage of the vehicle is prohibited for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky pursuits is not permitted. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized individuals, or allowing unapproved drivers is against policy. Operating the vehicle under the influence of substances is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes outside its intended design, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Buxton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.

Updates to Terms

Buxton reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
